Abstract
Holocnemus pluchei (Scopoli 1763) is newly recorded from Japan. The previously known distribution of H. pluchei was northern Africa, southern Europe including Turkey and Azerbaijan (Caucasus). It was also introduced to the United States of America, Argentina and Australia. The Japanese specimens were collected at a highway rest area and around pig farms, all of them are artificial environments. Therefore, the species is very likely not native in Japan, but was introduced from other countries.
