A new species of the genus Kelawakaju (Araneae: Salticidae) from Iriomotejima Island, Japan

Abstract

A new species within the genus Kelawakaju Maddison & Ruiz 2022, collected from Iriomotejima Island, Japan, is described as Kelawakaju orientalis sp. nov. This represents the first record of the genus Kelawakaju in Japan. The new species can be distinguished from its congeners by the morphology of the palpal embolus and the retromarginal tooth of chelicera.
