A new species of the genus Achaearanea (Araneae: Theridiidae) from Japan.

Abstract

A new spider belonging to the family Theridiidae is described from Japan, under the name of Achaearanea nipponica. A list of the Japanese species of the genus Achaearanea is also given. Four species of the genus Theridion, T. culicivorum BÖSENBERG et STRAND, T. ferrumequinum BÖSENBERG et STRAND, T. japonicum BÖSENBERG et STRAND and T. kompirense BÖSENBERG et STRAND, are transferred to the genus Achaearanea.
