Abstract
1. The absorption rates of mucoid and other proteins of egg during incubation were observed.
2. The absorption rate of mucoid from white into the em-bryonic system is not equal to, but higher than that of other proteins. The yolk mucoid does not appear to be absorbed preferentially to other proteins.
3. The proteins of white show a momentary increase in the period between the 6th and the 12th days.
4. White mucoid is most probably absorbed directly by the embryonic system, but not by way of yolk, and the transitory rise noted in 3. seems, consequently, to be due to its back-flow from the fetal system including amnion and allantois.
4. The mucoid do not suffer any partial cleavage in the carbohydrate fraction. Protein moiety of vitello- but not of ovo-mueoid is converted gradually in loco before absorption.
