Abstract

1. The isolation and characterization of globoside samples which

are responsible for the ABO-system blood group specificity are described.
2. The ratios of hexosamine components appear to show some correlation with specificity.
3. On mild acid hydrolysis, group activity exhibited by globoside is much more stable than group active mucoids.
4. Sphingomyelin obtained from erythrocytes of all four groups did not show any chemical differences.
