Abstract

The ribonuclease capable of decomposing RNA was purified up to an electrophoretically and Resin-chromatographically homogeneous state from the medium filtrate of Streptomyces aureus. The enzyme was remarkably activated by Mn_??_and Mg_??_but inhibited by EDTA. Optimum pH was ranged from 6.5 to 9.0. The enzyme had a different specificity from those of pancreatic RNase, ribonuclease T1 and Streptomyces ribonuclease.
The author wishes to express his thanks to Dr. E. Ohmura for fruitful discussion and Mr. H. Tanaka and Mr. Y. Kihara for technical assistance.
