Abstract
1. Some biochemical properties of the oxidation of indole to indigotin by Pseudomonas indoloxidans were studied. It was found that two molecules of indole were oxidized to one molecule of indigotin by the organism.
2. Indoxyl was detected as an inter-mediate in the reaction.
3. Incorporation of oxygen atoms from molecular oxygen into indigotin was observed in the course of the oxidation of indole by the organism.
