Pyrithiamine mono-and pyrophosphate were found in the brain of rats 24 hr after a single intraperitoneal injection of 10mg per kg of pyrithiamine. The formation of pyrithiamine pyrophosphate was found to be catalyzed by partially purified thiamine pyrophosphokinase [EC 2.7.6.2] from pig brain.
