Abstract

The Earth Simulator Project that started in July of 2002 at the Earth Simulator Center of JAMSTEC has produced many epoch-making scientific results in the global atmosphere and ocean circulation simulation, the earth's interior dynamic simulation, nano-material simulation, tera-hertz oscillator design, exact lattice-QCD solution, tokamak anomalous transport simulation, etc. Those results have world-wide brought a big impact and influence upon the simulation science and engineering. Simulation has now acquired civil rights as a scientific tool to make scientifically reliable prediction of natural disasters and make design of innovative new industrial materials and products.
