Abstract
As multimedia communications become popular, performance modeling and analysis of multimedia communication networks becomes a very important issue. A fluid queue is one of popular approximation models for performance analysis. In the fluid queue, the detailed behavior of packets/cells transmitted in networks is ignored and packet/cell streams are regarded as fluid streams. In this paper, we survey papers on fluid queue models for multimedia communication traffic proposed so far and discuss the analytic results.
