Abstract

Chemical structures of 62 flavonoid and one xanthone powder and crystal samples which were donated from Kumamoto University and deposited in Department of Botany, National Museum of Nature and Science, Japan were reconfirmed by UV spectral survey, LC-MS, NMR and/or HPLC comparisons with authentic samples. Among them, although the flavonoid from the leaves of Phellodendron amurense has been characterized as noricaritin 7-O-glucoside and named as amurensin, it was re-identified as noranhydroicaritin 7-O-glucoside (epimedoside C) by NMR and LC-MS. Although the flavonoid from Nelumbo nucifera has been named as nelumboside, it was completely identified as quercetin 3-O-β-glucopyranosyl-(1→2)-β-glucuronofuranoside in this survey. Moreover, the flavonoid which was named as neolinarin was identified as pectolinarigenin 7-O-[(4‴-acetylrhamnosyl)-(1→6)-glucoside] by NMR.
