Abstract

A complete list of spiders (Arachnida, Araneae) hitherto known from Myanmar is provided on the basis of the investigation of all the descriptions and records in the papers and books published in the world from 1878 to 2025. The list consists of 623 species from 54 families, including many species that have not been rediscovered since their original records and several species considered to be nomina dubia in the World Spider Catalog because of the immaturity of the type specimens. For each species, the original publication, type locality, depository of type specimens, records in Myanmar, major taxonomic revisions, and distributional range are noted. The old place names recorded in these past documents are verified and compared with their current geographical and administrative names and the locations. Based on the checklist, a brief discussion of the current status of the spider fauna of Myanmar is provided. For a few of the poorly known species of the families Thomisidae and Gnaphosidae, the type specimens are reexamined and illustrated.
