Abstract
In Japan Schistostega pennata is known in the north of Honshu and Hokkaido. In 1969 the species was found in the western part of Kitanomaru Park, Tokyo, central Honshu where was unexpected habitat because of the place of urbanization and of low altitude. In 1972 Schistostega pennata and its surrounding habitats were designated a national natural monument as "Habitat of Schistostega pennata in the ruins of Edo Castle." Afterward there was no record on the situation of the place and Schistostega pennata except a report in 1981. The occurrence of the species in the same place was reconfirmed in November 25, 2011. Schistostega pennata was growing on shaded soil in the space of the stone wall at several places.
