Abstract

A new system of classification of the subfamily Ranunculoideae (Ranunculaceae) is proposed. Ranunculoideae comprise 33 genera and are divided into three tribes, Adonideae, Anemoneae and Ranunculeae; Anomeoneae are further divided into three subtribes, Kingdoniinae, Anemoninae and Clematidinae, and Ranunculeae into three subtribes, Trautvetteriinae, Myosurinae and Ranunculinae. New infrageneric taxa and their names are also proposed for Adonis, Pulsatilla and Ranunculus.
