Aster ovatus (Franch. & Sav.) Mot. Ito & Soejima, which is based on Aster trinervius Roxb. var. ovata Franch. & Sav., included Calimeris microcephala Miq. as the basionym of A. ovatus var. microcephalus. Therefore Aster microcephalus (Miq.) Franch. & Sav. should be taken as correct name for the species instead of Aster ovatus. Accordingly, two varieties are published as new combinations.
