Abstract

The curing and degradation of oil paint thin films exposed with air pollutant gas i.e. NO₂ and SO₂ were investigated in terms of the functional goup level by NIR-excited fourier transform Raman spectroscopy. It was shown that the actions of NO₂ gas and SO₂ gas for paint films were clearly different between NO₂ and SO₂ for oil paints containing the inorganic and the organic pigments.
