Fluorometric Determination of Resorcinols with 2,4-Dihydroxybenzoylbenzoic Acid

Abstract

A simple and sensitive fluorophotometric method for the determination of resorcinols was examined utilizing a condencation reaction with 2,4-dihydroxybenzo-ylbenzoic acid in the precence of H₄P₂O₇. In the determination of resorcinol, the calibration curve exhibited linearity over a resorcinol concentration range of 1.0∼1100 ng mL⁻¹ at an emission wavelength of 515 nm with an excitation of 445 nm and with the relative standard deviations (n = 5) of 4.8% for 110 ng mL⁻¹ of resorcinol.
