Abstract

Asterriquinone isolated from the mycelium of Aspergillus terreus was tested for its antitumor activity. This compound was very effective against Ehrlich carcinoma and ascites hepatoma, AH-13, in vivo, while slightly effective against Yoshida sarcoma and L-1210 leukemia. Some modifications in the molecule resulted in entire loss of its activity.
