Abstract
It was cleared that there is a linear relationship between the diffusion coefficient of the concrete covered with coating materials for textured finishes and the air permeability coefficient by double chamber method. The carbonation resistance which indicates the carbonation suppressive effect of coating materials for textured finishes is calculated by the diffusion coefficient and the coating thickness of the coating materials for textured finishes. The diffusion coefficient is calculated by experimental values of air permeability coefficient using the relation between the diffusion coefficient and the air permeability coefficient. Therefore it was cleared that the carbonation progress is able to be predicted by the calculated value of the carbonation resistance. And it was confirmed that the carbonation progress of the concrete covered with coating materials for textured finishes is able to be predicted by the carbonation resistance and the diffusion coefficient which is calculated using the experimental value of the air permeability coefficient. Because the calculated value of the carbonation resistance and the predictive value of carbonation using the calculated value tend to correspond to the experimental values of the accelerated carbonation test.
