Abstract
In cold districts, antifreezing agents which contain chiefly chloride are sprayed in order to prevent traffic accidents due to frozen road surface. Since scaling of concrete caused by the use of antifreezing agents brings sectional decrease in concrete cover of structures, problems concerning durability, surface texture and load bearing capacity may arise.
However countermeasures for scaling of concrete have not established. The scaling is remarkable in steam cured concrete products. Therefore, in this study, according to the test method of ASTM C 672, we considered mitigations of scaling deterioration in mixture proportions and using types such as ordinary concrete and high flow concrete. All the test specimens carried out steam curing of maximum temperature 50℃. As a result, in this area of study, it was extremely effective to contain the air quantity at 6~8% to mitigate the scaling. In addition, the scaling can be mitagated by using the small size coarse aggregate, and using high-performance concrete without vibrating compaction. Concerning type of cement, the scaling was mitigated by using high-early-strength portland cement, while the amount of scaling increased remarkably when blast furnace cement type B was used. Furather, the scaling was not mitigated when an organic short fiber was added.
