Abstract
The electro migration test is commonly used to obtain the effective diffusion coefficient of chloride ion in hardened cementitious materials. Other hands, if the saturated porous material, which has the electrically-charged pore surface, is applied a voltage, the electro osmotic flow is generated in pore. Additionally, surface of hydration products is charged by the reaction of surface complex between ions in pore solution and the surface functional group, such as silanol group. Therefore, it is considered that the chloride ion transport at the electro migration test is affected by electro osmotic flow. However, the influence of electro osmotic flow on chloride ion transport at the electro migration test is not studied by previous research.
In this study, the flux of chloride ion and the electro osmotic velocity generated by the electro migration test were measured. From the results, the electro osmotic velocities between paste and mortars were different. In addition, the electro osmotic velocity had the correlation with gel porosity of hardened cementitious materials. The influence of electro osmotic flow on chloride ion transport at the electro migration test was different for different types of binder, paste and mortar.
