A study was performed on the combined use of anti-inflammatory agents, including Tanderil, and several antibiotics in rabbits. Tanderil produced higher serum and tissue concentrations of penicillin, cephalosporin, rifampicin and PAS than when these agents were given alone. This effect of Tanderil may be assumed to be caused by the lowered renal clearance attributable to the inhibitory effect of Tanderil on the tubular excretion. This phenomenon also occurred with Butazolidin, an analogue of Tanderil, while no effect was observed with indomethacin and benzidamin under the similar conditions.
