Abstract
Fosfomycin is a new broad spectrum antibiotic produced by Streptomyces. It was applied clinically to 8 cases of infectious diseases, which contained 5 cases of peritonitis, two pulmonary infections, and one lymphadenitis.
The results obtained were remarkably effective in 3 cases, effective in 3 cases and ineffective in 2 cases.
A side effect noticed in one case was leucopenia, which returned normal in a week after stop of administration.
As these clinical experiences are too small to draw definite conclusions concerning clinical effectiveness and safety of fosfomycin, we want to observe more clinical cases in the future.
