Abstract
We carried out clinical studies on cefpirome (CPR) with the following results.
1. CPR was administered to 8 patients with obstetric and gynecological infections: puerperal intrauterine infection (5 patients), Bartholin's abscess (1), parametritis (1) and pelvioperitonitis (1). Clinical response was good in 5, poor in 1 and unknown in 2 cases.
2. Bacteriologically, three strains of Escherichia coli were eradicated and one strain of Staphylococcus aureus persisted. One strain of E.coli was replaced by Bacteroides distasonis.
3. No side-effects or abnormal laboratory findings were observed
