Abstract
Twenty one patients with suppurative skin and soft tissue infections were treated with ME 1207, an oral cephem prodorug. The result showed excellent in 7, good in 9, fair in 5 and the efficacy rate of 76.2%. The eradication rate of sixteen causative organisms isolated from 14 cases was 53.8%. Among the cases treated, there were no severe side effects. Slight abnormal laboratory findings were observed in 2 cases; one was a decrease of lymphocyte and an increase of epithelium and another was an elevation of BUN. ME 1207 was useful in the treatment of superficial suppurative infections.
