Abstract
In this study, we conducted a survey analysis targeting both ongoing and suspended operations of “places for the elderly” in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture in order to extract factors that enable its continuous operation. Then we compared it with that of “places for the elderly” in Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture.
As a result, we identified five necessary points for continuity: 1) reducing the burden on operators, 2) relaxing registration conditions, 3) expanding registration benefits, 4) integrative information dissemination and 5) providing a venue for information exchange. Consequently, we made recommendations for support measures to Takamatsu City.
Additionally, 77.2% of the elderly who participated in the “places for the elderly” demonstrated an increased motivation for living, regardless of gender, age or duration of participation.
