Investigation of Patients with Cleft Lip and/or Palate in Orthodontic Clinic of Meikai University Hospital

Abstract

We carried out an investigation on 77 patients with cleft lip and/or palate who were treated in our orthodontics clinic. We investigated using a questionnaire in order to obtain these patients'information.
The findings were follows:
1. Two siblings patients w ere 70.5 % of all cases, and the average age of the mothers at delivery was 27.4 years old.
2. In geograph ical distribution,93.5 % of all were in Saitama prefecture, but in hospitals where patients had undergone primary operation, Tokyo metropolitan had the most cases.
3. A great part of primary labioplasty was carried out before 6 months old. The average age of patients at the first visit was 10.2 years old.
