Abstract

The Japanese architectural standard specification for precast reinforced concrete work (JASS 10) was revised by the Architectural Institute of Japan for the first time in ten years since its 2003 revision. This latest edition is a complete revision to reflect: (1) the increasing need for precast reinforced concrete members of design strength of 60 N/mm2 or higher for reinforced concrete high-rise buildings;( 2) the wish to have this document concord with the revisions of various related regulations and Japanese Industrial Standards revisions; and (3) the fact that precast members made outside Japan are increasingly being imported to Japan for use at domestic construction sites, something that rarely occurred before. This paper summarizes the major points of these revisions.
