Abstract
Crushing of pile tops is usually done by chipping with hand breakers or heavy-machinery type breakers, but the poor working environment that results from the generated noise, vibration, and dust over long periods is an issue. Therefore, an instant pile-top crushing method that employs micro-blasting technology capable of finely crushing concrete instantly through the use of a small amount of explosive and non-explosive agent was developed. Through pile top crushing tests on specimens as well as on-site application, a detailed standard method of application was established along with a charge design method. Further, the noise instantaneously generated during blasting was measured and determined to be of an acceptable level.
