Abstract

This paper discusses an innovative steel fiber reinforced concrete structural system. The proposed system is developed to streamline the works of reinforcing for R/C interior joints. In general, beam bars are passed through interior joints counting on developing bond stresses around these bars to ensure an effective anchor. Nevertheless, beam bars, column bars and joints' shear reinforcements when crossed in interior joints result in a complex detailing where reinforcements for R/C frames in the 3-demensional space are difficult to arrange into the tight joint core due to lack of space. Therefore, as a solution, the streamlined R/C interior joint system using steel fiber concrete is proposed. Beam bars of opposite sides, provided with head anchors, are neither lapped nor connected within the interior joints that are without shear reinforcements. The headed bars are anchored around the center areas of the joints. Steel fibers are used to enhance joints' shear strength and anchor strength of the headed beam bars.
