This paper describes study cases on the behavior of RC structures under various impacts and shock waves, based mainly on numerical analysis. The fi rst study case considers the extent of the damage caused to an RC viaduct that goes over a road when a motor vehicle collides with the viaduct. The second study case concerns the degree of damage to an RC viaduct as the result of collision with tsunami fl otsam. The third study case examines the structural characteristics of a tsunami evacuation tower designed to withstand the impact of tsunamis and fl otsam, when fl otsam hits the tower. Finally, the fourth study case examines the application of discharge shock crushing to demolish an RC structure.
