The JSCE Standard Specifications for Concrete Structures ─Design─ was revised for the first time in five years in March 2023, and this paper gives an overview of this Revision. This revision aims to cover a broader array of conditions related to structures. To this end, the scope of application has been extended to existing structures; encompasses not only ground motions but also impacts, tsunamis, and floods as accidental actions; the scope of application of reinforcement strength has been changed to include high-strength reinforcing bars; coordination between design, construction, and maintenance has been made smoother; the meaning of characteristic values and design values for material properties has been clarified; the safety factors used in durability design and durability verification have been clarified; and the technical content concerning structural design and durability design has been augmented in line with technological advances.
