Abstract
Tsukiji Central Wholesale Market Building was rebuilt with a large truck parking place called artificial ground. Provided grid span was about 20 meters and the depth of beam was 1.5 meters, the prestressed concrete structure was applied in the frame. The rigid frame due to the multispan-continuoussed Box Girder could be accomplished first in Japan by the method of sliding meckanism, which could slide freely the elastic shortening to be caused by prestress, and then the Box Girder was combined with the column by the posttensioned vertical tendons. After the topping concrete slab was cast in place on the precast DT-slab to be set between the Box Girders, the slab was compounded by the secondary prestress.
