A Short Term Construction of Large Buildings by Site-Precast Concrete

The Case of Nikke Community Center

Abstract

The construction of Nikke Comunity Center, a large building for shopping with a total floor area of more than 85 000 m², was required to be completed within only 11.5 months. It was estimated that the conventional cast-in-site concrete construction would need 19 months. The construction, however, was completed as required, adopting the “REQUEST constructing system” which consisted of a framed structure of site-precast concrete such as columns, beams, and stairs, and prefabricated deck-plate forms. This report describes the construction in details.
