Steel-concrete sandwich composite structures are a type of composite structures which is a layer structure of skin steel plate (s) and core concrete. The sandwich composite structures increase buckling strength of the steel plates and prevent cracks of the core concrete from being exposed to environment. Furthermore ultimate strengths and deformability of the sandwich structures are better than those of comparable steel and concrete structures. This paper introduces practical examples, mechanical characteristics and special features during construction of the sandwich composite structures. Further research are also suggested.
