Size Effects of Concrete Structures

Abstract

Various strengths of concrete structures decrease as structure sizes increase (size effect). This paper summarizes present research progress in size effects on strength of plain concrete and reinforced concrete, as well as analytical methods and design specifications concerning size effects. Future research programs in this area are also mentioned.
