Abstract
While it is recognized that detecting of rebar corrosion in concrete at early stage is vital, daily visual and hammering inspection cannot detect it. Therefore, suitable non-destructive testing (NDT) technologies should be included in periodic inspection. But NDT inspection cannot be adopted, if the advantage of introducing NDT is not shown for the administrator who even at the moment are facing shortage of budget and manpower at maintaining existing structures. In order to establish efficient and effective inspecting system, it is required to improve hardware of NDT as well as software of usage of NDT, for example, gathering, accumulating and using methods of NDT data. This paper shows the necessity of these supporting systems for introducing NDT and the direction of technology development.
