Abstract

Inside a beam-column joint of SRC structure, tie hoops of the column should pass through the inner steel web of the beam. In common, these tie hoops are cut into segments, then assembled and welded in field. But the process of field welding is always affected by weather condition and causes welding quality problems, as well as workability and safety problems. To solve such problems, the author promotes a new method, so called SRC-LAPhoop, which adopts lap joints instead of welding joints for setting tie bars. This paper reports the development and application rules of the SRC-LAPhoop.
