The paper first summarizes the findings from loaded heating tests of prestressed slabs made of ultra-high strength fiber reinforced concrete (UFC). Based on the test results, a design procedure was developed for estimating the fire resistance of UFC slabs, taking into account the temperature rise and loss of strength of prestressing steel, both induced by heating during fires. Furthermore, the report provides a brief overview on the process of fabrication and installation of the UFC slabs for the enlargement and refurbishment project of an existing office building in Yokohama, Japan.
