Abstract

This paper proposes the installation of an active control device on a barge equipped with DPS to enhance the operational efficiency of ship-to-ship transfer operations for construction materials at sea. The novelty lies in implementing a system that conducts both vertical motion reduction control specifically at the location of the suspended load (a part of the hull) and roll motion reduction control of the hull using the same system, without aiming to reduce the overall motion of the barge. The targeted motion reduction involves installing submerged plates on the port and starboard sides of the hull and controlling them by moving them vertically. This control system exhibits significant effectiveness during beam seas compared to longitudinal seas, greatly improving the operational efficiency of ship-to-ship transfers.
