Abstract
The purpose of the present study was to construct and examine a revised scale to measure ego developmental crisis state during adolescence and to examine its reliability and validity. A questionnaire was sent to 615 male and female participants, ranging from junior high school students to university undergraduate students, containing questions related to ego developmental crisis state during adolescence. As a result of the factor analysis, six factors consisted of 26 items were found in A level (adolescent conflicts) and six factors consisted of 26 items in B level (adolescent maladjustment). The reliability of the scale was examined through using Cronbach’s coefficient of reliability. As there was a satisfactory high coefficient, the scale’s reliability was verified. As for the construct validity of the scale, results showed the predicted correlations with the related scales, which supported the validity of this new scale. Furthermore, on this scale, junior and senior high school students had a higher level of ego developmental crisis state than university undergraduates. In addition, gender and grade differences were found on each subscale.
