Abstract
This paper aims to investigate the transformation of the central shopping street in Toyama city. Toyama is the first city that established challenge-shop project. The main findings are as follows:1) the character of the Central shopping street has been changed from the place of multi shopping to that of the furnishings. The decrease of daily shops causes the increase of those on road side in suburb.2) The fashion shops in the center are facing to severe situation.
