Abstract

This study aims to clarify the green existent form and their changes of Shinto shrines. The green existent form of the shrines based on "Settsu Meisho-Zue" and "Izumi Meisho-Zue" and present shrines and their changes were evaluated, and their spacial characteristics were evaluated based on the surrounding land use and the topographic condition. The results indicated that the green existent form of the shrines changed into open space type from forest type. The results clarified that open space type was succeeded to where there weren't ups and downs, and that forest type was succeeded to where there were large ups and downs. While, the relation of the changes of the green existent form and the surrounding land use didn't become clear.
