A Numeral Simulation Analysis on the Effect of the Policies for Compact City on the Urban Structure and Transportation Environmental Load

Abstract

In recent years, various urban problems have appeared due to the development of motorization, and as a measure of them the idea of compact city is discussed. However, the policies for compact city have not enough analyzed or inspected, so few of them have moved to practice. So in this study, we aim to evaluate some compact city policies and examine the most effective package of them. First, we construct the urban structure model considering characteristics of transportation: frequency of trains, traffic congestion and so on, and then apply the model to Fukui City and analyze the effect of the policies by numeral simulation.
