FD is known as one of the "form-based code" regulations that are emerging in U.S. cities recently. FD is a kind of the zoning regulation that is defined in the Land Development Code of Louisville. However, it only controls a building form by using the prescriptive code. Density and land use regulations are separated from FD. FD is designated on citywide of Louisville Metro area. There are two significant contents in FD. One is the area design standard, and the other is the site design standard. New buildings that applied FD regulations are harmonized with their surround and strengthen the character of each district.
