Synthesis of Co-Al layered double hydroxides by a homogeneous precipitation method utilizing urea hydrolysis and characterization of their properties.

Abstract

Co-Al LDH (layered double hydroxides) were prepared by precipitation from homogeneous aqueous Co (_II_) and Al (_III_) chlorides solution utilizing urea hydrolysis. The products were hexagonal plates with maximum diameters of 40 micrometer. XRD SEM and FT-IR were used to characterize the successful formation of Co-Al LDH and their properties.
