Clay minerals formed in microcracks developed in the weathered granite slopes

Abstract

Many micro cracks are formed in the weathered granite slopes. Clay minerals were filled in these micro cracks with some other small fragments of rock forming minerals. These seemed to be carried from the other parts. It is considered that these clay minerals were carried through the micro cracks by the just surface ground water, and these were deposited in the fractures. In this presentation the genesis of clay minerals formed in the micro fractures will be discussed from the standpoint of the occurrence of slope failures
