Abstract
Silylating agents containing ethylene oxide groups were synthesized by the reaction of polyethylene glycol monomethyl ethers with methyltrichlorosilane. The silylating agents react with layered silicate octosilicate to immobilize ethylene oxide groups onto interlayer surface. The regular grafting of ethylene oxide groups (MW = 550) was confirmed by XRD patterns and 29Si MAS NMR spectra.
