Abstract
The bentonite layer of nuclear waste treatment of L1 project demands high quality property of bentonite. We investigated compaction characteristics, characteristics of bentonite (permeability, compressive strength, tensile strength) and dry density of bentonite relations to use Wyoming bentonite ore. We confirmed some items as follows. When an dry density of bentonite exceeded 1.4g/cm3, permeability was below 1.0E-12 m/s. When spherical FNS (Ferronickel slug 5-0.3mm) added to bentonite, compressive strength and tensile strength increased even if dry density of bentonite was same.
