Abstract
Recently, it became possible to delaminate LDHs, but in most cases, formamide (FA) is used. FA is non-volatile and hazardous to humans, so the exfoliation of LDH using water has been desired. However, only a few works have been published. We found that MgAl-LDH3 (Mg/Al = 3) hybrids containing acetate and propionate intercalants delaminated to yield colloidal suspensions via a gel state. Semi-transparent self-standing LDH films were successfully prepared by drying the colloidal suspension.
